A new bill intended to combat sex trafficking also outlaws online speech and information designed to protect the health and safety of sex workers. On Feb. 27, the U.S. House of Representatives passed H.R.youtube.com According to the Electronic Frontier Foundation (EFF), the bill will also undermine Section 230 of the Communications Decency Act (CDA), which protects online platforms from being held liable for the speech of their users.classifieds.vip "Without Section 230, most of the online platforms we use would never have been formed — the risk of liability for their users’ actions would have simply been too high," EFF elaborated.

In addition to its criminal provisions, FOSTA makes possible civil suits brought by state Attorneys General targeting advertisers on websites that enable communication about sex work. "Without question, Internet platform providers should not be criminalized for speech indulged in by their users, whether or not they are aware of the content of that speech," said Libertarian National Committee Chair Nicholas Sarwark. "Gutting Section 230 is not a solution to stopping human trafficking. Internet giants like Facebook and Google may have the resources to fight the onslaught of lawsuits that would likely ensue. It’s important to distinguish between the victims of sex trafficking, who are forced into captivity by violent abductions and imprisonment, and the people who choose to engage in sex work for any number of voluntary reasons. "The common understanding of sex trafficking involves the kidnapping of victims and forcing them to work as sex slaves," Sarwark said.

"Kidnapping and slavery are already illegal, and perpetrators should be vigorously prosecuted. Anyone kidnapped or enslaved is a victim. For people voluntarily engaged in prostitution, though, neither the sex worker nor the customer is a victim. Both are acting voluntarily. "Whenever government tries to make consensual activities a crime, not only do the activities continue unabated but their illegality creates collateral damage by driving the activities to the black market," Sarwark said. "Prohibition had little effect on the consumption of alcohol, but it increased the profit margin in booze and created a great new business opportunity for organized crime. Richard Nixon’s war on drugs did not measurably decrease the use of drugs, but it made billions for murderous drug cartels. Likewise, victims of sex trafficking will see little benefit from FOSTA. Libertarians believe that society suffers not from too few laws but from too many. One of the top priorities of Libertarians elected to office will be the repeal of old, antiquated, counterproductive laws like those prohibiting consensual adult activity. More than 2,000 Libertarians are running for local, state, and federal office in 2018 to help make the United States more free and prosperous.

They sent him home with a list full of resources that specialize in matters of depression. They asked that he continue to check in with them through social media. Research suggests that upwards of 6 million men are affected by depression every year. Suicide remains the seventh leading cause of death among men in America. While it’s impossible to gauge exactly what percentage of that demographic frequents sex workers, the experiences of those in the field can offer some insight. During Sky’s last tour at the Ranch, she scheduled about seven appointments. Out of those bookings, only one involved sex.

"We do a lot of companionship and intimacy parties," she says. And people with depression aren't the only neurodivergent individuals sex workers encounter on the job. Those suffering from anxiety, a common accompaniment to depression, show up frequently. They also see a lot of people who fall on the autistic spectrum. In fact, Sky says she sees men who fall into the latter demographic relatively often. Sky first got her start in the industry working as a professional dominatrix. While she has since pivoted her position in the industry, she’s found ways to incorporate that expertise into life at the brothel. Sure, she offers standard escort services, but she also books sessions dedicated to BDSM, an acronym that can be broken down into three sub categories: Bondage/Discipline, Dominance/Submission and Sadism/Masochism. Each dynamic refers to a specific form impact play that participants can find deeply pleasurable.

That kind of tactile experience, she suspects, might offer a certain special appeal to men with autistic spectrum disorder (ASD). And she might be right. Among the many symptoms of those diagnosed with ASD is a resistance to physical contact. According to the CDC, early signs of the disorder may present in the form of an aversion to touch. At the same time, touch is an important sensation to experience. A lack thereof can lead to loneliness, depression and even a more secondary immune system. Researchers have determined that therapies designed to nurture regular sensory integration can help in this regard. Goddess Aviva, who also prefers to be referred to by her professional name, is a lifestyle and professional dominatrix based in New York City. Like Sky, she sees a good amount of clients with autism spectrum disorder (ASD), and also men dealing with depression and anxiety.

She takes certain measures to screen clients. After all, violence against sex workers is an ongoing issue in the United States, and the wavering legality of the trade doesn’t exactly help combat the issue. In the wake of new federal legislation that has largely kicked sex workers offline, and with them, the ability to vet clients from afar, sex workers must be more vigilant than ever about whom they decide to take on. The clients who are neurodivergent or live with mental health conditions don’t seem to be the ones sex workers are worried about. "You don't have to be diagnosed with a mental illness to be a shitty person, and some of my clients who do deal with mental illness are wonderful, kind people with good intentions," says Aviva.

"I've never felt unsafe with a client that makes it all the way to a session. Sky, too, has encountered a number of undesirable clients throughout her career in the industry. But, similar to Aviva, these experiences don’t seem to be driven by those suffering from mental health or neurodivergent conditions. "My most uncomfortable moments in the industry have always come from men who would be told by a professional that they were completely sane," she explains. Fortunately, for Sky, it’s much easier to weed out problematic clients in places where prostitution is legal. According to her, the brothel has a security team monitoring the property.

She also says there’s a sophisticated screening mechanism in place. Before booking a session, all clients have to provide ID and agree to an intimate screening to rule out immediate potential health risks. These aren’t typically privileges those operating independently have access to. Throughout her career, Sky has encountered clients who have been pointed to the brothel by concerned friends, or family. She even knows of a few who have come by at the suggestion of a therapist. Though, not all mental health professionals would advise that kind of thing. And maybe it’s not just in the interest of clients to see someone trained to provide the level emotional support they may be after. "It can be heavy," says Sky. Still, it seems as though few in the field shy away from providing the emotional labor that clients demand. "There’s this huge misconception that at the brothel we just have sex all day," Sky explains. "But there are a lot of people who come in to work out some serious emotional issues. "I love my job," she adds. "But there are certain parties that make us feel like we’re actually making a difference in the world — that we’re actually doing good things and not just providing a good time.

DETROIT - Detroit police are looking for a serial killer and rapist that has killed at least three sex workers on the city’s east side. Speaking with reporters on Wednesday, Detroit Police Chief James Craig said they have reason to believe that the suspect appears to be targeting prostitutes in their 50s, luring them to vacant homes and leaving their bodies there. The investigation has been ongoing for several months and began on March 19 when police found a disrobed, decomposing female in a vacant home in the 20000 block of Coventry Street. Police initially treated the death as a drug overdose, but a medical examiner’s report later found she was killed by blunt force trauma, Craig said. Police have since found two more women who appear to have been killed in a similar fashion. "There were certain aspects of this crime that were very similar to the first so it was a cause for concern," Craig said.

Most people (me included) have a very underinformed idea of who does sex work. It’s not all women who look like Julia Roberts in Pretty Woman (though some do). They are women, men, and nonbinary people who are young, old, and in between; extremely attractive by conventional beauty standards, or not so much. A small handful (that I’ve come to know) are driven by economic desperation, but for the most part, sex workers are highly empathetic, kind individuals who truly enjoy their work and are providing a valuable service to people. Some of the most noteworthy and highly praised women in the Christian Bible are sex workers or had dubious reputations, from Tamar to Rahab to the Samaritan woman at the well who had several husbands. And we have the same relationship to sex.

On the one hand, it’s raised on a pedestal, as this holy, sacred sacrament (only within the confines of heterosexual, religiously sanctioned marriage, of course, and only certain kinds of sexual or erotic acts). On the other hand, it’s dirty, nasty, shameful, outside of said sanctioned unions — and configurations. We’re in the middle of a cultural war in America to determine our moral values, and right now, it seems that the Puritans are winning, in terms of what is legal. But the spice of the forbidden only makes people want it more, of course. It feels good to touch our own bodies, to touch those of other people, and to be touched.

’t even include sex as many think of it, a penis entering a vagina or anus or mouth. It’s often more about touch and an emotional release of pain/tension in the body, about emotional connection, about… tenderness. There’s another Bible story, about Jacob and Esau, and about Esau, the firstborn of the twins, agreeing to trade his birthright for a bowl of cereal, because he was soooo hungry. Who hasn’t been there, amirite? For the most part, the act of PIV (PIA, PIM) intercourse isn’t what people who employ sex workers or seek out one night stands are hungry for. Sex in and of itself will not make you happy, any more than a bowl of porridge will do more than satisfy a momentary hunger.

Bad sex is a thing — practice helps, education helps, emotional connection to a partner helps. Sex worker tutoring can help. Porn viewing, not so much, not that there is anything wrong with porn. Learning how to be an attractive partner (this has nothing to do with looks, and everything to do with attitude) is possible. Learning how to accept "No," gracefully and without offense is not only possible, but desirable. For ALL of us. These are things we, as a society, can and should be teaching, but instead we are fixating on a sex-negative, sex-as-scarce-commodity viewpoint. We need to be making it easier for sex workers: sex therapists, somatic body workers, sex surrogates, phone sex workers, sex educators, adult movie talent, and everyone else, to reach out to those who are sex-deprived, under-educated, lonely — with their services. Instead, we are making it harder.

Since SESTA-FOSTA has been signed, I am hearing that the slightest hint of sexuality is being shut down on most social media channels. One friend couldn’t advertise a workshop for post-menopausal women, "Hot Women Over 50." My friends who run cuddle organizations, which are geared around non-sexual touch only, are being shut down on social media channels. And check out this ad of mine which was deemed too salacious to run on Facebook. This is not going to make the world safer, only less so. Support a sex worker via reboosting them on social media, patronizing them if you can.

Last week, The New York Times reported that comedian Louis CK has a history of masturbating in front of women without their consent. The following day, CK released a statement admitting that the accusations were true. I cannot decide if I should be more appalled or resentful of the fact that every time we learn about yet another famous sexual predator, I find myself shocked—both by the man's behavior, and the public reaction to it. Go pay for a hooker or go pick someone up in a bar! Or keep it in your pants! LouisCK I really loved your stuff!

Huge letdown that you too are a sad perv," someone else tweeted. As if "sad pervs" are the only people who want to masturbate in front of women. And as if sex workers are a quick fix who can and should cheerfully quell serially predatory men's desires, making them no longer a threat to decent society. It’s not surprising that people would use sex workers as the proverbial punching bags for Louis CK's predatory sexual impulses. Sex workers are used to butting heads with the comedy world, where vapid strippers and dead hookers run amok in reliably tired stand-up sets and TV shows. Louis CK himself has a bit where he talks about how if murder were legal everyone would be a murderer, making those who don't murder others suspicious. The joke goes: "Not even a hooker?independent.co.uk What’s wrong with that guy?

Sex workers are some of comedy’s most disposable people, which is made even worse by the fact that it's a reflection of reality. Amnesty International reports that sex workers around the world are routinely subjected to violence and stigma due to criminalization and marginalization. So it isn’t that surprising to me that people would, in a similar vein, suggest that sex workers exist merely to absorb whatever sexual impulse one might have on a given day—so that non-sex workers may be spared the abuse. As someone who has not only participated in sex work, but who advertised specifically and explicitly for an exchange where men would pay me to watch them masturbate to completion—with my full consent—I find this narrative dangerous and offensive. Sex workers do not exist to save abusive men from themselves, or to save non-sex-working women from abusive men.

Every sex worker ought to have the ability to establish her own boundaries, her own rates, and not face intimidation when she does not give consent for any reason. What's more, dismissing these abusive behaviors as the result of "weird" fetishes is just another excuse not to grapple with these predators' brazen disregard for consent. As for the notion that a so-called "fetish" drove CK to commit his abuses: Nonsense. I’ve worked in strip clubs and dabbled in selling used underwear on Craigslist, and I’ve found that many men are interested in having women watch them masturbate. Sometimes I learned this because they asked politely if they could and other times I learned this because they whipped out their penises and began doing so without warning or my consent.

It could happen in the public area of a strip club while giving a lap dance: he would touch my arm and smile expectantly, then look down at his own erection in anticipation of my approval. It could happen in a VIP room where there isn’t security necessarily watching the cameras at all times. It could happen when I consented only to sell a man a pair of underwear and he’d begin masturbating before he paid me. Long story short: there are a lot of ways a guy can whip it out without your consent, even if you’re not that shocked by it. But not being shocked by something does not mean I consented to it.

Most of the time, though, they asked first.classifieds.vip In fact, they asked so much that figured I could cut out the middle man and just advertise for this specific exchange on my own.classifieds.vip I ran ads with headlines like, "SUNDAY: For Guys Who Want a Pretty Girl to Watch Them Come" and "Want Me to Watch You Get Off? " accompanied by no-nonsense body text that read, "So this is pretty straightforward: Most men like to masturbate. Some men prefer to have a pretty young lady watch them do so without her clothes on. I never lacked for interest from these ads and rarely lacked for clientele willing to actually meet and pay me what I asked for.

But I will tell you that they were not ghoulish and depraved caricatures, or mere shadows of decent men who lived in both physical and moral squalor. From their outfits to their apartments to their awkward attempts at small talk, they were almost all aggressively normal. The more people nurturing the idea that any man with such a sexual proclivity can be summarily dismissed as an aberration to the natural sexual order, the easier it becomes to blame perversion rather than predation for these violations. There's no reason to believe that a predator will stop behaving abusively if he hires a sex worker.
